hola :) i'm katia and pesosinmypocket is a bit of my adventures that i share with friends, family and the folks i meet along the way.​ when i started traveling, it was difficult to find others that shared my vibe --- surfers on a small budget, without a vehicle, and especially solo females. since then, i have self-planned 4 years of international travel and surfed over 100 spots, and here i make it accessible to you!

as someone that grew up without a passport, i got the travel bug in my study abroad in cape town, then spent 15 months as a digital nomad,  moved to mexico for a two year peace corps service, and am now back surfing and working in california...
